Our staff provides anesthesia services to patients in large areas of University Hospital Graz. Annually around 14,000 patients receive care before, during and after operations. Our field of activity includes operative, intervention and recovery areas for general, visceral and transplantation surgery; gynecology and obstetrics; orthopedics and traumatology; plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery; radiology; urology; gastroenterology and hepatology and pulmonology.
At our anesthesia outpatient clinic, patients receive their individual anesthetic risk assessment, optimization potentials are identified and the most suitable anesthetic technique is determined during the preoperative anesthesia examination. At intensive care units 1, 2 and 3 of University Hospital Graz where we work, our staff members treat more than 2,000 patients a year following complicated operations, in the wake of severe injuries and for serious diseases.
In emergency situations, our staff care for acute and seriously injured patients in the resuscitation room of the transregional Trauma Center Graz and as part of the emergency anesthesia team at the University Hospital interdisciplinary surgery complex.
Outside the hospital, our staff also work as emergency physicians at the University Hospital Graz emergency medical center and in the emergency helicopter Christophorus 12 to treat patients with acute problems and emergencies.
The uniqueness and the added value of our division are the result of the symbiosis between patient care, research and education. The division is jointly operated by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Hospital Association (KAGes). This interdisciplinary cooperation between both providers at the University Hospital Graz site is also reflected on our website. More information on patient care can be found at the University Hospital Graz website.
